Governance, Legal and Assurance​

Democratic services are extremely important to a council. Positions in these teams involve managing the electoral process, overseeing elections, and ensuring fair and transparent procedures. They provide support for council meetings, organising agendas, recording minutes, and facilitating the decision-making process. Professionals in democratic services roles also handle public inquiries, manage petitions, and promote civic engagement by facilitating public consultations and engagement initiatives. 

Information Governance are responsible for managing information access, security and compliance. This involves ensuring the effective use and sharing of information through policies and procedures, managing records and archives, providing guidance on privacy/data protection regulations, handling information requests, and safeguarding sensitive information. They may also coordinate responses to freedom of information requests, provide information governance training and audits, and report on compliance issues.

Our Legal Team are pivotal in ensuring adherence to laws and regulations. The Legal Officer is responsible for providing legal advice, drafting contracts, and representing the council in legal proceedings. They oversee compliance with statutory requirements and advise on governance matters. Additionally, the Solicitor acts as the council's legal representative, dealing with litigation, offering guidance on policies, and ensuring all actions align with legal frameworks.
