T-Level case studies

Emerging from higher education, I favoured a career within construction. The course presented construction from a wider perspective, providing specialised content areas to highlight the various roles that make up the industry. In addition, the prospect of a 9-week industry placement would provide me an opportunity to understand where my qualifications could be utilised.

Since starting my T-level I have learnt how to assess projects and scenarios more efficiently and holistically. Studying the environmental, economical and social benefits and weaknesses has made me more aware of the different factors that affect the success of construction and design projects all over the world.

Gaining A-Level qualifications in line with a structured learning format for effective learning, revision and important industry experience.

During my T-Level course I chose to pursue an industry placement with Suffolk County Council as part of the Growth, Highways and Infrastructure team. Assessing and commenting on planning applications whilst gaining communications within the industry was extremely beneficial. As a result, I have pursued a career as Transport Planning Technician at Suffolk County Council.

Understanding the responsibilities that employees have within the workplace whilst learning from others that have different backgrounds and experiences. I’ve become more confident and insightful on roles within my chosen industry.

Someone had told me about them and I thought they sounded interesting so I decided to apply.

My confidence levels in my own ability and in general have greatly improved and enabled me to complete a work placement and get a full-time job.

The teaching is really good, and the work placement was really helpful in getting me ready for the working world.

I have got a Job at Suffolk County Council in the planning department, and I have started studying town planning at London South Bank University.

If it’s in a subject you enjoy or want to pursue as a career then go for it. It gives you a great route into your chosen career or gives you the opportunity to branch into many different careers.
