The variety of different roles available in Home First, including entry-level roles that provide the opportunity to begin a career in social care.

A key principle of reablement is having a reliable team. This is dependent on having the right structure, roles and a fully competent team of people who understand and operate within the ethos of reablement. Research has shown that staff skills and knowledge of reablement principles are regarded as key to successful reablement.

Training for all staff is in line with best practice guidance and Care Quality Commission (CQC) expectations. Professionally trained Reablement Support Workers, who have DBS clearance, provide the service in a manner that meets the needs of the customers as initially defined in their individual Care Plan.

All Reablement Support Workers must undertake Induction, Care Certificate and a wide range of training courses including mandatory core training before completing their Qualifications and Credit Framework (NVQll) (QCF) Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2.

Team Leaders all hold QCF or NVQ III, equivalent qualification or experience and are Risk Assessor trained.

Home First Managers all have a minimum of NVQ IV, equivalent qualification or experience.

Home First assessment staff are all trained in undertaking Care Act compliant short-term assessments.

Ongoing training of staff is regularly reviewed through staff supervision, observations, and Performance Development Reviews.

Staff working within the prison environment will be subject of clearance by The Home Office and controlled whilst working within these establishments by the Prison Governor / Custody Manager or their representative.
